Hi everyone! This is Joey from the Service Beakers’ staff.
Since we have not utilized our news page in some time, I wanted to take a moment to update you all on our progress with our lessons and laptops programs, respectively.
The past year or so has seen some exciting procedural changes regarding our lesson format. For the virtual lessons in Service Beakers’ initial 2020-2021 school year, our volunteers were comprised mainly of the staff team and a few friends. Now, since the 2021-2022 school year, we have created volunteer-oriented chapters of Service Beakers at local high schools across the Triangle! Through this we have been able to expand our reach and present in-person lessons and activities more easily. To learn more about our free STEM lessons and activities, visit our lessons & activities webpage! Also, if you would like to start your own chapter of Service Beakers at your high school, it’s free! Sign up on this page.
Also since the last post on our news page, we launched our laptop grant program (laptop initiative) to provide a free laptop to under-resourced students in North Carolina and beyond. Thus far, we have collected roughly 1,000 devices totaling just over $130,000 in value from local corporations, schools, and individuals! We have streamlined our grant process through our three targeted pipelines, in partnership with Beast Philanthropy, the Kramden Institute, and the St. Michael the Archangel (Cary) Honduras Mission, donating laptops to students in Greenville, the Triangle, and even Honduras. To learn more about our laptop grant program, visit our laptop program webpage!
Finally, I want to thank you for all your support of Service Beakers. Our mission of free and accessible education is simply not possible without you. Special thanks go out to our partner organizations who have donated their time, resources, and networks to fuel our programs.
